The Chauncey Literacy Partnership |
The Chauncey Literacy Partnership is a collaborative effort involving the faculty of Ohio University in Athens (College of Education and College of Health and Human Services), OU undergraduate students in Early Childhood Education and Chauncey Elementary School teachers and students and their families.
This partnership provides a year-long field experience for early childhood majors. OU students are placed in classrooms with mentor teachers for two full days a week during their junior year and one full day a week during the first quarter of their senior year.
The partnership prepares caring, competent, and committed teachers, providing specialized literacy training to enable Chauncey Elementary School children to overcome reading and learning difficulties.
