Educational Administration
students

The Educational Administration program at Ohio University prepares individuals for leadership positions in K-12 schools and other education agencies. Its vision emphasizes responsive leadership in rural settings.

Vision
Emphasizing the knowledge, skills, and practices of responsive leadership, the Educational Administration program fosters a vision of humane, engaging, inviting schools where administrators, teachers, and students work democratically to promote academic excellence. The program is committed to an ethic of leadership that is attentive to the human side of school change.

Recognizing that our graduates serve in a variety of positions globally, the program places special emphasis on rural and small schools. Course work and field experiences integrate conceptual and practical knowledge, grounding leadership practice in a thoughtful appreciation of the context in which schooling takes place.

Degrees and areas of study
The Educational Administration program offers graduate degrees at the master's and doctoral levels as well as course work required for Ohio licensure as an elementary-middle or middle-high school principal or district superintendent.

Master of Education in Educational Administration
The General Master's Degree Program provides individualized studies that prepare prospective administrators for a variety of roles.

The Principal Preparation Program offers a field-based alternative to traditional preparation that includes a Master's degree and licensure.

The Rural Superintendents Program assists students who already hold the master's degree to achieve Ohio licensure for a variety of administrative roles.

Doctor of Education in Educational Administration
The Doctoral Program in Educational Administration combines conceptual and field-based study at an advanced level, preparing individuals for intellectual and practical leadership positions in national, state, and local arenas.
