The National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) is a national organization whose six standards must be met in order for teacher licensure programs to be accredited. Our most recent accreditation visit was April 2007 and we received Accreditation with probation. Our next NCATE onsite visit is scheduled for October, 2009
Since 1954, the Ohio University College of Education has been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs. NCATE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel.
